Station Nine

Lending a hand to others is what helped RULA get to where it is today. We would not be where we are today if it weren’t for the ladies of Station Nine.

The community RULA tied up with is called Station Nine. This is a small community of informal dwellers located behind a police station.  There’s a small opening at the side of the police station to get to the community.

The small opening leading to the community is a fire hazard. How can the people come out in case of fire? Apparently, the folks living there seem to have it all figured out.

It  wasn’t easy  at the start. Partnering with a community of informal dwellers did not please some people. There some  unsolicited comments from random folks. One particular comment  was that RULA shouldn’t be helping informal dwellers. The fact that they are living off other people’s expense should be enough for RULA to stay away from them.

RULA just needed help. It was as simple as that. It has no intention to change the world or do something politically radical; it just needed help. If a group of women were willing, then why not.
